POLO-Osaka conducted an outreach mission to the region of Kyushu, the most southern and third largest island of Japan from 28th to 30th of August 2020. Seven (7) of the eight prefectures of Kyushu are under the jurisdiction of POLO-Osaka, namely, Fukuoka, Saga, Oita, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Miyazaki and Kagoshima.
The outreach mission included visit to worksites of some of our workers in vulnerable occupations, particularly in the agriculture and performing arts sectors. Consultation meetings with the employers on the latter’s issues and concerns on Filipino workers and on labor documentation and with workers on their working and living condition were also conducted. OWWA membership promotion and premium collection was a major objective and the promotion of POLO and OWWA programs was highlighted by the distribution of brochures and education/information materials. Consultation meetings and premium collection were conducted at the Fukuoka Toei Hotel in Fukuoka City.
The employers were very appreciative for the effort of the POLO to reach out to them, particularly in the midst of the corona virus pandemic and especially when each of them were given usb flash drive containing the prescribed processes and documentary requirements for both the Specified Skill Workers (SSW) and the Technical Intern Training Program (TITP) and the common mistakes that the POLO-Osaka has observed in the evaluation of labor documents with Japanese translation. They also voiced out their preference for Filipino workers for their industriousness and ability to learn fast, as well as their hope that Japan will lift the entry ban very soon. END
