Relationship with the Head of Post/Mission

The Secretary shall have the primary authority over the POLO/Labor Section Officers (Labor Attaches and Welfare Officers)  and Staff but the Chief of Mission shall exercise administrative supervision over them during their tour of duty.

One Country Team Approach

DOLE subscribes to the One Country Team Approach under the leadership of the Ambassador/ Head of Mission.  Under the one country-team approach, all POLO/Labor Section officers and staff, regardless of their mother agencies shall, on a per country basis, act as one country team with a mission under the leadership of the Ambassador.

Policy Coordination among POLOs located in One Country

The two labor offices (POLO-Tokyo and PCG-Osaka, Labor Section) shall meet to discuss/ensure the uniform implementation of the policies and procedures across the two posts.
